Live service games like Overwatch are undergoing some major changes (some for the better than others), but these changes inevitably make OG fans reminisce about the good ol' days.
WE MADE 6V6 IN OVERWATCH 2
With the original six-vs-six game mode making a return to Overwatch 2, diehard fans have taken to r/Overwatch en masse, taking to Reddit in a July 29th issue to outline what else they’d like to see added to the game. While the original poster wanted to see the return of loot boxes, allowing players to earn free skins simply by playing the game, another equally lost Overwatch feature has taken center stage.
After match cards allowed players to show who they thought was the best in the match. Regardless of whether you won or lost, the after match cards showed the best of the game. Support, tank, and DPS characters had an equal chance to appear on the after match cards based on kills, objective play, healing, and overall damage. What was a nice addition to an Overwatch match was later traded for endorsements.
Although after match cards didn’t add anything to the game, players described after match cards as “entertaining” and a “good burst of confidence” when you saw that glorious animation. The after match card brought players closer together, gave extra chat time, and encouraged you to stick together (especially if you were winning).
