Apple devices uniquely offer users the ability to record voices and create a synthesized version of them to communicate with others. The feature, known as Personal Voice, first debuted in iOS 17 last year.

This year, iOS 18 expanded support for Personal Voice to VoiceOver and Spoken Content — accessibility features that let you hear what's on screen and what text is selected, respectively.

This means that instead of using preset voices, you can now use a self-generated voice to hear when something is spoken out loud using these features.

Once you've created a synthesized version of your voice, you can also select it for the VoiceOver and Spoken Content settings, both of which can be accessed via the Accessibility option in the Settings app.
