Paid mobile internet will likely suffer the same fate as long distance and text messaging charges.
Carrier "Deals" Are a Scam. Here's Why!
Amazon may soon offer free mobile service to its Prime subscribers, further locking you into its Prime sweetener package. According to Bloomberg, Amazon is in talks with several carriers to negotiate the lowest price. If you’re already a Prime customer, it’ll be hard to turn down, despite potential privacy concerns.
"I think a smart and cost-effective go-to-market strategy would be to lure customers away from the major telecom networks by using the 'free calling and texting' offer to capture a larger share of the customer base," technology executive Alexander Bell told Lifewire in an email.
There are two reasons why Amazon bundles a cell phone service with Prime. The first is to make it even harder to cancel the monthly subscription. The other is to collect even more data about you.
