World of Warcraft players are asking Blizzard to rethink Heirlooms ahead of the launch of The War Within expansion, as purchasing and upgrading them has become a huge gold investment with little return.

With The War Within slowly approaching, WoW players have been calling on Blizzard on Reddit and the official Blizzard forums to make these useful items relevant again. Given the rapid leveling in Dragonflight, the amount of gold required to upgrade Heirlooms is absurd for most players.
Back in Wrath of the Lich King, when leveling was still a major part of the game, Blizzard introduced Heirloom gear items. What makes them special is that they increase in power as players level up and also give an XP buff.
For years, Heirlooms have offered a quick way to level alts. While expensive, they are a great investment for long-term players who want to level as quickly as possible with as little hassle as possible.
