Microsoft has a long history of making excellent controllers for both PC and Xbox gamers, dating back to the Xbox 360 controller. When they introduced the new Xbox One controller, it was generally well-received, but it still felt like nothing special. Back in the day, you had to go to a third-party seller or send your official controller to someone to mod it if you wanted something premium. Well, those days are long gone.

With the release of the Xbox One Elite controller, high-end has finally merged with first-party to create a truly incredible device unlike any controller before it. Holding one in your hands will instantly make you feel like a pro gamer. The Elite isn’t quite perfect, though, so read on to see what we did and didn’t like in our review below.

Upon opening the box, the Elite Controller evokes a certain kind of luxury that others lack. Encased in a convenient fabric sleeve with a hard inner lining for protection, the complete package of the Elite Controller is easy to transport or store safely. The black case is adorned with a subtle black Xbox logo on the top and a loop to attach it to a bag. Unzip it and you’ll see your new device in all its glory. Inside, the top of the case has a nice little mesh divider for storing the included USB cable or even a charging kit.
