Xbox Series X and S get Dolby Vision Gaming upgrade
Dolby Vision is coming to the Xbox Series X and S for members of the Insider Program, with The Verge reporting that Microsoft claims the HDR format will mean brighter highlights, sharper contrast, and more vibrant colors when used on a Dolby Vision-compatible TV.
The HDR feature is currently only available to members of the Xbox Insider Alpha ring, as it's still in testing ahead of general release. Dolby has previously said that the Xbox Series X and Series S will be the very first gaming consoles to support both Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos surround sound in games.
"Current Xbox One consoles support HDR10 and Dolby Vision for apps, but gaming support is limited to basic HDR10," the company said on its website. "Xbox Series X and Series S will be the first consoles to support the Dolby Vision HDR format with dynamic metadata for gaming."
