The launch of XDefiant has already been derailed, as a large number of players are struggling to find matches through matchmaking on May 21st, prompting the Ubisoft team to respond quickly.
How to Fix the 'Can't Find a Match' Issue on XDefiant (PS5, Xbox, and PC)
On various platforms such as Discord, Twitter/X, and Twitch, players attempting to play XDefiant are receiving an error message “could not find match” among other errors when attempting to connect to a playlist via matchmaking. Various combinations of toggling crossplay or input-based matchmaking do not seem to help.
Ubisoft has already posted a statement on Twitter/X, saying that it is "aware that some players may be unable to join a game," and is asking players to "please be patient while we look into servers and matchmaking." Some responses indicate that it appears to be more than just "some" players, and while a few people are angry and disappointed that they won't be able to play right away, there have been several responses from users who understand that this is a common occurrence at the launch of a popular multiplayer title.
In addition to players having trouble finding matches, both new and returning players are also confused by the inexplicably hard-to-access practice zone.
