Not even a day after XDefiant's Season One update, players are already demanding that Ubisoft rework the DedSec Spiderbot ability. This ability apparently hasn't received the full nerfs promised by the developers in the pre-update patch notes.

The patch notes for the July 1 update noted that the cooldown of DedSec's Spiderbot ability, in which the player drops a spider that chases and stuns enemies, has been increased from 25 to 40 seconds. However, it appears that the Spiderbot still has the same shorter cooldown. Combined with a "bug fix" that now prevents locked-on enemies from destroying the Spiderbot while it's attached, this has become a serious issue that XDefiant players want fixed ASAP.

“You literally can’t counter it anymore, the game is basically unplayable if everyone picks Spiderbot,” frustrated XDefiant players stated in a July 2 Reddit thread. One major issue that fans raised was that the Spiderbot can stun enemies for four seconds, block your vision, slow you to a crawl, and deal significant damage. Previously, you could flick the insect away if you looked at the ground while the Spiderbot was attacking, but that is no longer possible. Outside of shooting the Spiderbot while it’s crawling erratically on the ground, using EMP grenades, or the Hijack ability, you’re at the mercy of the Alien-esque “facehugger.”

"Wow, talk about an ability with zero counter play and zero skill to use," other fans said. "It's literally unplayable. Everyone is using it now and it's nonstop Spiderbots everywhere and you can't do anything about it." Some have protested by only using DedSec and the Spiderbot ability, so its use is increasing, in hopes of forcing Ubisoft to comply.
