The advantage of the Xposed framework over some methods of modifying your device is that you don't have to create a general, system-wide modification (mod) containing a bunch of changes just to get one or two mods. Simply pick the one(s) you want and then install them individually.
The basic idea is that after you install an app called Xposed Installer, you can use it to find and install other apps/mods that can do a wide variety of things. Some offer small tweaks to the operating system, like hiding the carrier label in the status bar, or larger functionality changes to third-party apps, like automatically saving incoming Snapchat messages.
