Everyone’s talking about using Apple’s AirTags to find your keys, but do you know what they’re really for? Tracking your lost pet.
Can you use AirTag to TRACK your pets!?! And kids!?
We all know that your little friend is a very sweet dog. But sometimes they can get overexcited and run away, perhaps never to be seen again. There are plenty of expensive ways to keep track of your pet, but they can come with monthly fees and mean you have to charge the battery often. Enter AirTags. Are they really any good for keeping tabs on dogs?
"In reality, despite Apple's advice, we believe this will be one of the biggest selling points for AirTags," Tammi Avallone, editor-in-chief of the FiveBarks dog blog, told Lifewire via email. "By opening the Find My app on your compatible smartphone, you can see where your dog or cat is."
Specially made dog trackers like Fi or Whistle use a combination of cellular connections and GPS satellites. The GPS tracker pinpoints your best friend’s position and the 4G connection sends that location to you, usually via an app on your phone.
