BUDGET OFF CAMERA FLASH SETTING FOR BEGINNERS // YONGNUO YN560 IV Wireless Flash
The Yongnuo YN560 IV Wireless Flash Speedlite Master strikes an interesting balance between simple manual flashes that retail for about half the price, and much more expensive options from major brands like Canon and Nikon. The big upgrade is full radio control, allowing you to adjust a group of these lights in harmony. Coupled with 24-105mm zoom support and a speedy 3 second recycle time, this is a very attractive flash for off-camera use for portrait and real estate photographers.
The Yongnuo YN560 IV Wireless Flash Speedlite Master has a sturdy design that doesn’t feel like the manufacturer skimped on build quality – one of our biggest concerns with budget-oriented flashes like this one. When adjusting the position of the flash head through its 90-degree vertical and 270-degree horizontal range, it felt very solid.
Starting at the front of the device, you’ll find the light-sensitive trigger sensors and the 2.4G wireless receiver module. On the left side, the spring-loaded battery door opens to reveal space for four AA batteries, with a guide diagram underneath to help orient the batteries. On the opposite side, users will see a micro USB port (for firmware upgrades) and a flap that reveals an external power port and PC sync port underneath. On the bottom of the device, you’ll find a hotshoe mount with a screw-locking mechanism.
