When you share a podcast link with friends, sometimes you want them to listen to just a specific snippet instead of an entire three-hour episode. To make this easier, Apple Podcasts added a new feature in iOS 18. Now the app lets you share timestamped links, so the person who opens the link can start listening immediately from a specific moment in time.
6 Hidden Features in the iPhone Podcasts App
This feature has long been available on video streaming platforms like YouTube, and even third-party podcast apps like Overcast. It's nice to see Apple bringing it to the default Podcasts app, since that's one of the most popular ways people listen to podcasts on their iPhone.
Sharing podcast links with timestamps is easy, but first you’ll need to install the iOS 18 beta using the instructions here . If you have a backup device, it’s best to install it there so you don’t introduce any instability to your headphones.
With iOS 18 installed, open the Podcasts app and play the episode you want to share. The episode will appear in the mini-player at the bottom of the screen. Tap the mini-player to expand it, then tap the three-dot icon to the right of the episode name. Tap Share Episode… to reveal the share sheet. At the top of the share sheet, select From Home to reveal the option to share timestamped podcast links. You’ll see two options: From Home and From [wherever you are in the podcast]. The second option automatically grabs the timestamp where you tapped the share button. Select it to get a shareable timestamped link.
