Apple announces serious security vulnerability: this is how you protect your data

Cybersecurity firm Trellix recently shared their discovery of new, significant bugs in iOS and MacOS. Apple reportedly took steps to patch the bugs. But the new research has opened the possibility that malicious actors could bypass security features on some Apple devices.

“Hackers are faster than ever, and individuals and organizations need to update their software regularly to avoid the risk of falling victim to a cyberattack,” Andrew Obadiaru, Chief Information Security Officer at Cobalt.io, told Lifewire in an email interview.

Apple has long had a reputation for taking security seriously. But occasionally, potentially dangerous bugs sneak into the company’s software. The Trellix Advanced Research Center vulnerability team said it has discovered a large new class of bugs that could bypass a security measure called code signing to perform unauthorized actions on both macOS and iOS.
