Snooze alarms just doesn’t work for my brain. Whenever I try, my mind goes into overdrive thinking I’ll miss the alarm or it won’t go off, and I wake up feeling anxious and groggy. Instead, I set multiple alarms on my iPhone so I know exactly when each one will play. Of course, iPhone alarms still default to a big Snooze button in the middle of the screen and a smaller Stop button at the bottom. It’s way too easy to hit that Snooze button when I wake up than the little Stop button that’s tucked away.
Why the iPhone's snooze function lasts 9 minutes
That’s why I always disable the Snooze button on my iPhone alarm clock, and prefer to have the Stop button front and center when the alarm goes off. If that sounds like you, here’s how to do it too.
To remove the Snooze button, open the Clock app on your iPhone and go to the Alarms tab. You can select one of your alarms from the list and turn Snooze off. The next time an alarm goes off, you’ll see the Stop button in the center of the screen and Snooze won’t appear at all. This also works when setting a new alarm: simply turn off the Snooze option, which is on by default, and you’re good to go. (Remember, though, that each new alarm will automatically turn Snooze on.)
This easy-to-miss feature is a godsend for me: By removing Snooze, I can immediately hit Stop and either get up or go back to sleep, knowing that I’ve definitely set another alarm for later. Combined with a gentle alarm tone like By The Seaside, my iPhone alarms now wake me gently instead of jolting me awake. Trust me, it’s a much better way to wake up.
