Vintage Spring Hair Challenge: week 2 🌸 #hairtutorial #updo #vintagehair #hairstyle
This elegant 1940s hairstyle, inspired by Brazilian singer Carmen Miranda, features a classic element of hairstyles from that period: a front roll. Dahlia shares a detailed step-by-step guide in the description box of her post with a full list of products. Essentially you will need two hair bands, a few handles, a hairspray and ideally a hair cream, wax or pomade. It is easier to make the front roll if you curl your hair first, but it is also possible with straight hair. If you weave a few hairpins through the roll and hold them close to the scalp, you can hide them completely.
Try the vintage crown braids with Dahlia. The influencer starts by twisting the front to create that signature 40s or 50s look. She then creates two ponytails, braids them and brings each one onto her head. If you want to recreate this hairstyle, use a few bobby pins to secure the braids in several places close to the scalp. This ensures that it stays put. The shorter your hair, the higher the ponytails need to be to have enough length for your braids.
Victory Rolls, one of the iconic hairstyles from the Notebook, are actually quite easy to create. First, curl all your hair in the same direction and brush it out. Then divide a section of hair at the front and gently roll it towards the parting. Pin it in place. Make another roll behind it and another on the other side. Experiment with the number of rollers, their directions and sizes to create your perfect vintage hairstyle. If your hair is on the finer side, comb it back before rolling to give it some volume. Additionally, using mousse will make your hair more manageable and easier to style.
