If you're wondering if that cool new video that's trending was created using "custom or synthetic media, including generative AI," you're in luck.
YouTube's NEW Rules for AI-Generated Content
Google's YouTube just announced a new tool that video creators will have to use to disclose that fact under certain circumstances. When they do, a little label will appear on the video when you watch it, so we can all breathe a little easier.
Disclosure is only required if the content is clearly not unrealistic, animated, contains special effects, or uses AI behind the scenes solely for production support.
YouTube won’t require creators to disclose content that is clearly unrealistic, animated, contains special effects, or uses generative AI to aid in production. But disclosure is required when the likeness of a real person is used, such as when you replace someone’s face with someone else’s. Any altered footage of real events or places must also be disclosed, as must videos that show realistic scenes, such as a tornado moving toward a real city.
