You’ve watched the viral internet videos of mysterious sightings, criminals caught red-handed, and car crashes all captured on video doorbells. With those tantalizing images in mind, the decision to step into the 21st century and install a smart doorbell on your front door starts to feel less like a luxury and more like a necessity.

Now the shopping begins for the right smart doorbell. While there are many options on the market, each is subtly but importantly different. One of the most affordable options, however, is the Zmodo Greet Smart Doorbell, but is it any good? I recently installed one on the front of my house to find out. After several weeks of testing, the results—and its reliability—were clear.

As I mentioned in the intro, there’s no shortage of newcomers to the smart doorbell market, some of which have embraced an Apple-esque white color scheme. Others opt for a darker motif with piano black glossy plastic housings. The Zmodo Greet, however, has a nice simulated brushed steel front, making it look substantial and premium in comparison.
