Zoom has unveiled a new Focus Mode option, designed to help kids stay focused during their remote learning.

With the new school year just around the corner, Zoom wants to make it easier for kids and parents to manage distance learning. In a blog post packed with back-to-school tips, Zoom recommends trying out its new Focus Mode, which “your child’s teacher can introduce to the classroom to help students stay focused.”

Focus Mode allows teachers to view all of their students’ video feeds as usual, but students will only see their own feed and the teacher’s. Zoom’s theory is that this prevents students from being distracted by their peers while still allowing the teacher to keep an eye on the class.

Screen sharing is also limited, with teachers able to share their screen with the class, but students only with the teacher. Although, if necessary, the teacher can decide to share a student’s screen with the rest of the class as well.
