Executive producer Judd Parkin told a reporter for TV Guide Magazine that playing the title role in CBS's 2000 miniseries Jesus "scared a lot of established stars." That turned out to be a good thing, Parkin noted. The little-known 25-year-old Sisto was "a Jesus without the baggage." The role was also a big step for the actor, but he admitted he was "intimidated by the heaviness of it."
