Mark Harmon has always believed that comedy sets NCIS apart from other procedurals. Ducky (David McCallum) performs an autopsy on a severed leg found by dumpster divers, which sets off the show's dark humor. McCallum said, "Ducky walks around the room with this leg and talks about his grandfather and art galleries and My Left Foot, but it has nothing to do with the leg itself. After this long lecture, Gibbs says, 'Ducky, that's a right foot.'"
