Searchlight has officially set the new release date for A Complete Unknown as December 25, 2024. The Christmas release date is often a sought-after date and is usually reserved for big titles, so Searchlight is clearly confident that the upcoming film will be a big one.
In addition to Chalamet, A Complete Unknown also stars Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax and PJ Byrne as Harold Leventhal. Dylan serves as executive producer, along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Andrew Rona. Jeff Rosen, Dylan's longtime manager, has also signed on to produce, along with Mangold, Bob Bookman of Veritas Entertainment Group, Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen, Fred Berger of Automatik and Alex Heineman of The Picture Company.
"Set in New York's influential music scene of the early 1960s, the film follows the meteoric rise of 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan (Chalamet) as a folksinger to concert halls and the top of the charts — his songs and mystique becoming a global sensation — culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock 'n' roll performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival," the synopsis reads.
