Despite its Russian grandeur, the Metropol Hotel in the Ewan McGregor-directed A Gentleman in Moscow is merely a set. But the gilded cage in which Count Alexander Rostov serves out his lifelong house arrest is based on the real hotel of the same name, and it’s a place you can actually visit.

A Gentleman in Moscow premieres Friday, March 29 for subscribers of the Paramount+ With Showtime app and Sunday, March 31 at 8/7c on the Showtime network (now also Paramount+ With Showtime). Episodes will roll out one week.

The series joins series such as The White Lotus, Griselda, Succession, American Horror Story, Twin Peaks and more, which were filmed in and/or inspired by real hotels.
