Actors' Equity Association, the national union representing theater actors, stage managers and other workers in the live entertainment industry, has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States and Governor Tim Walz as her vice president.
Actors' Equity Association President Kate Shindle Endorses Biden/Harris 2024
In a lengthy statement, Al Vincent, Jr., executive director of the Actors' Equity Association, advocated for the union's support:
“Vice President Harris has prioritized the needs of workers throughout her career. Over the past several years, she has played a critical role in President Biden’s staunchly pro-labor administration. We are excited that she, along with Governor Walz, will accelerate that momentum to advance policies that honor and protect all Americans. We need everyone to capitalize on this momentum and elevate Vice President Harris to the presidency in November.”
“The Actors’ Equity Association endorsed Kamala Harris for vice president in 2020 and 2024 because we know she puts the best interests of working people at the heart of her political philosophy. Now, by choosing Tim Walz as her running mate, a man who has championed union causes in Congress and as governor of Minnesota, she has already shown that she will continue to champion labor. She has proven time and again that she will fight for the issues that matter most to Equity members, including preserving our democracy, protecting abortion access, stopping climate change, and enacting sensible gun control. I look forward to a Harris presidency that I know will build on the pro-labor legacy of the Biden administration.”
