Literary agent Clare Lundberg defended the American studios this morning in Edinburgh during a debate over the conversion of books to TV.
Lundberg, CEO and founder of Paris-based CTL Scouting, said: "American studios get criticised for buying a lot and not producing a lot," but that this did not always reflect the reality.
She said that unavailability of writers or preferred producers, or disputes with the author of the work, are some of the issues that can delay development after an option. She added: "It's like pushing jelly up a hill."
