Al Pacino recently revealed the story behind his viral Shrek phone case. The case, which features images of the beloved green ogre, was a gift from his daughter, Olivia. This isn’t the first time the case has made news; fans first saw it in a 2022 photo featuring Jason Momoa.
This Is The Endearing Reason Al Pacino Has A Shrek Phone Case
Al Pacino recently shared the story behind his Shrek phone case during an interview with BBC News while promoting his memoir, Sonny Boy.
When BBC correspondent Colin Paterson said, "Of all the things Al Pacino would have on his phone case, I didn't expect Shrek," Pacino explained how he received the case. "My daughter gave it to me," he said, adding that his youngest daughter, Olivia, had borrowed his phone and returned it with the Shrek case on it. He recalled her saying, "She said, 'It's Shrek, Dad!' I said, 'Shrek? Wow. OK honey, I'll keep it.'"
Pacino's Shrek phone case first gained attention in April 2022, when Jason Momoa posted a photo of the actor wearing the case at a dinner party. The photo went viral, but Pacino admitted he didn't notice the case's design until social media comments pointed it out. In an older interview with TODAY's Harry Smith, the iconic actor said, "I didn't even look at it until social media told me what was on my phone, and I looked at it and said, 'That's Shrek.'" When asked if he kept the case, Pacino confirmed, "Of course. It was a gift."
