Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón announced during a masterclass at the Locarno Film Festival that he wants to make a horror film.
The Mexican filmmaker, winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award in Locarno, is known for his diverse works, from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” to “Roma.”
"I like horror movies," Cuarón said, distinguishing his taste from that of his friend and collaborator Guillermo del Toro. While del Toro leans toward fantasy and metaphysical horror, Cuarón prefers more grounded fare. He "flirts" with the genre, he explained, citing Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Tenant" as influences.
