Alfonso Cuarón on how his films reflect his life
Gravity and Roma director Alfonso Cuarón will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Locarno Film Festival.
Five-time Oscar winner Cuarón will receive the award on Sunday, August 11, at Piazza Grande. That same day, the public will have the chance to meet the Mexican filmmaker in a panel discussion at Forum @Spazio Cinema.
The tribute to Locarno will be accompanied by the screening of Jonas qui aura 25 ans en l'an 2000 (Jonah Who Will Be 25 in the Year 2000, 1976) by Alain Tanner, personally selected by Cuarón. Before the screening of Tanner's film, Cuarón will discuss its significance for his own work and for film history in general. The discussion will be moderated by Frédéric Maire, director of Cinémathèque Suisse, and is organized in collaboration with Les Films du Camélia.
