EXCLUSIVE: After six seasons of breaking tackles on the hit Netflix series All American, Daniel Ezra has found a new challenge to run from, as sources tell Deadline that he's joining Paramount's reimagining of The Running Man starring Glen Powell. Katy O'Brian is also on board, with Edgar Wright set to direct the film. Wright will also produce with his producing partner Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. Wright co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall.

Based on Stephen King's novel of the same name, which the author first published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, Running Man was made famous by the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. King's futuristic novel is a chase thriller set in a dystopian America in the year 2025. The story centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who enters the violent reality show The Running Man in order to win enough money to bring his seriously ill daughter back to life. The show follows Richards as he is pursued by countless hunters intent on killing him. George Linder serves as executive producer.
The film is scheduled to premiere on November 21, 2025.
Best known for his starring role in Netflix’s All American, written by Nkechi Okoro and Greg Berlanti. The show recently aired its sixth season (the final season to feature Daniel), and its high critical acclaim and loyal fanbase have established him as one of the industry’s most exciting and promising rising stars. His work on the series earned him a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.
