Amazon Games is launching a new "weird" online co-op battle title, "King of Meat," that will let players "battle strange and wonderful creatures and build treacherous dungeons." The game, which was announced during the live opening show for this year's gamescom on Tuesday, is described as a "hacking, slashing online co-op spectacle for one to four players, where players take on the role of fearless competitors battling through ridiculous dungeons."

According to Amazon’s description for the game “King of Meat”: Set in the mystical world of Loregok, King of Meat transports players to a place of dragons, trolls, skeletons, and of course, corporate commercialism – where high fantasy meets the glitz, glamour, and media infatuation of modern-day celebrity. At the center of this obsession is the wildest survival game show imaginable, “King of Meat.” In the Komstruct Koliseum, YOU are the entertainment; a hopeful desperate for glory, gold, and fame. Race through chaotic, riotous dungeons and battle all manner of monsters as you attempt to impress the bloodthirsty audience with your fighting skills and showmanship. But that’s not all! Dare to imagine lava-filled chambers, spinning blades, flaming fireballs, rotating spikes… and that’s not all! There are giant horse hooves, interdimensional black holes, exploding ducks, and gym jocks made of sausage meat. Nothing is impossible in King of Meat, and whether you’re crowned victorious or go down anonymously, you’ll need to play with style to please your audience. Think that’s all? Think again! Even greater glory awaits those who create their own devious dungeons. What traps, tricks, and trials are hidden in that dastardly brain of yours? Use all your cunning and creativity to build the most fun and outrageous dungeons for other King of Meat hopefuls to conquer, and the best will become famous and celebrated throughout Loregok.
No release date has been set for “King of Meat” yet, but the game will be available digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
Sources tell Variety that Amazon has the potential to make a TV or film adaptation of the upcoming video game.
