Christy Blankenship's husband, Kevin Blankenship, was charged with murdering his wife in their Baker City, Oregon, home on August 26, 2010, according to KVAL. The true crime episode reveals that Christy, who lived in Springfield for most of her life, was found with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after their wedding.
The Columbian reported that Kevin initially told authorities that he accidentally shot the 38-year-old victim while he was cleaning his gun. He maintained that it was an accident. Kevin initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea in January 2011. According to Baker County District Attorney Matt Shirtcliff, Blankenship's brother Darrin would testify that he received a phone call from Kevin after the shooting. He claimed that Kevin shot Christy because she wanted a divorce.
