The American Music Awards will skip 2024, just like 2023: CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced today that the next awards show will be held in May 2025, marking the first time the ceremony has been moved to the spring.

Also announced today is a two-hour broadcast titled the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special, scheduled for Sunday, October 6. The special, which will feature memorable moments from past AMA ceremonies, will air simultaneously on both coasts from 8-10 p.m. ET/5-7 p.m. PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
The CBS/DCP announcement this morning said the special "will serve as a tribute to the past 50 years and will feature dazzling new performances, candid artist interviews, legendary special guests and exclusive, never-before-seen footage from DCP's extensive archives, highlighting iconic moments that have defined the awards show and shaped pop culture."
Segments will look back at the evolution of specific artists and genres at the AMAs, as well as award and performance milestones. The performances, created especially for the special occasions, will include collaborations and debuts from today's stars, as well as performances from past AMA artists. Artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
