Jack Black and Paul Rudd reportedly close in Sony's Anaconda reboot
The studio had no comment.
The original 1997 thriller starred Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson and Ice Cube and followed a National Geographic-esque film crew taken hostage by a crazed hunter, who forces them to tag along on his quest to capture the world's largest and deadliest snake, an anaconda. The film performed above expectations at the box office, grossing $145 million worldwide, including $65 million domestically. It also earned Lopez and Cube early box office successes in their careers.
According to sources, this latest version is not a remake, but a new version with the same snake as the protagonist, and a story that leans more towards the comedic aspect.
