In a memo Monday, IATSE Local 839 said that after both sides repeatedly rebutted last week, they remain “far apart” on several key issues.
The negotiating committee voted to extend the current contract until September 20, to allow for an additional week of negotiations. The negotiation phase will begin on September 16.
"We came to negotiations with a list of concerns and changes that TAG members had prioritized. It is disappointing, but not surprising, that we were unable to receive meaningful feedback on all of the issues we shared in our first week," Animation Guild Business Representative Steve Kaplan said in a statement. "The Negotiating Committee looks forward to resuming our discussions in September, when we expect the AMPTP to provide substantive feedback and be prepared to implement the necessary changes that animation professionals are requesting."
