There's been much ado about the issues facing the video game industry and Hollywood in 2024, but a new partnership finally offers a solution to a growing problem for the gaming industry.

In late August, Remedy Entertainment announced that it would partner with Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures for exclusive film and TV rights to "Alan Wake" and "Control," two AAA properties from the Finnish studios.
This in itself isn’t unusual. After several recent successful adaptations of gaming IP, like HBO’s “The Last of Us,” Amazon’s “Fallout,” and last year’s multi-billion dollar “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” everyone is looking to tap into gaming’s captive audience.
But Remedy's deal with Annapurna, a producer of many Oscar-nominated films and a former distribution partner of MGM Studios' United Artists Releasing before MGM was acquired by Amazon, isn't your typical licensing deal, as Annapurna will now finance half of the development costs for "Control 2," with Remedy remaining the sole publisher.
