The show was first said to be in development at AMC in 2023, with the basic cabler formally greenlighting the show in June 2024. AMC has ordered six episodes, and the show will begin production next month in Manchester, England. It is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
The series is part of the so-called Anne Rice Immortal Universe at AMC, as the network acquired the rights to Rice's best-selling book series "The Vampire Chronicles" and "The Lives of the Mayfair Witches" in 2020, which encompasses a total of 18 titles. Series versions of "Interview With the Vampire" and "Mayfair Witches" have already premiered.
According to the official description, “The Talamasca” will focus on “the men and women responsible for tracking down and containing witches, vampires and other creatures spread across the globe.”
