In the eight-episode series, which was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, Taylor-Joy will play murderous protagonist Grace Bernard.
"Grace comes from a complicated family. Her father is Simon Artemis, a billionaire and ruthless social climber. She is the product of an affair he claims not to remember, and Grace and her mother are left to fend for themselves," the synopsis reads. "When her mother dies and she is rejected by the very people who should love her, Grace channels her rage into something useful: killing off this estranged extended family through morbidly creative means. Grace scrambles to seek revenge and a hefty inheritance, but her mission only pulls her further away from what she truly needs."
"How to Kill Your Family" marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Sid Gentle Films Ltd ("Killing Eve"). Emma Moran ("Extraordinary") serves as lead writer and executive producer, with Taylor-Joy also EPing for her LadyKiller Productions Inc. Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger and Lee Morris are executive producers for Sid Gentle. Mackie is co-executive producer.
