Milad Tangshir's feature film debut steals Vittorio De Sica's neorealist classic, but there's a good explanation for that.
Bicycle Thieves — What Makes This Movie So Great? (Episode 35)

“Anywhere Anytime” is, quite openly and unashamedly, a rehash of the beloved classic “Bicycle Thieves.” However, by modernizing Vittorio De Sica’s neorealist landmark, Iranian-born director Milad Tangshir infuses his version with both contemporary cultural nuances and a unique perspective as an immigrant to Italy, resulting in a remake that stands apart.
The film follows Issa (Ibrahima Sambou), an undocumented Senegalese immigrant who works odd jobs in Turin while evading the watchful eye of the police, just in case. When the pressure to avoid the law (or pay mounting fines) becomes too much for Issa’s boss, he forces the industrious young man out of his low-paying flea market job, leaving him at the mercy of the gig economy.
