The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday approved the interim appointment of Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara.

CA Education Committee Chairman Senator Raffy Tulfo said his support for Angara's nomination is due to his "extensive legislative work in the field of education, experience as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, openness, decisiveness and passion for education."

"With this, I know that our teachers, who care for our students, now have an ally in DepEd. And I fully support its programs that would provide teachers with easy access to loans, and its program that creates a system for the career development of teachers," Tulfo said. "I look forward to working with you, Sec. Sonny, and seeing the changes you will bring to the Department of Education."

Before Angara's nomination was approved, he was rushed through the confirmation process during the panel's deliberations, which took less than 10 minutes.
