US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has “made some progress” during a long-awaited trip to China, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.
“We expect to be able to build on that progress,” the official said.
Blinken's visit, which ended Monday, was aimed at restoring lines of communication as tensions between the two world powers rise over Taiwan and an incident involving a Chinese balloon in February that Washington suspects was intended to spy on the United States.
