House Majority Leader and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo confirmed that he was approached by Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat to seek approval to become chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Tulfo's statement contrasted with Senator Ronald Dela Rosa's claim that the House leadership approached active and retired police officers to testify against him and former President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"If you have a nagko cover pa ako sa [Camp] Crame, contact General Caramat, he was just a major or captain then. So sabi niya (Caramat), 'Baas baka pwedeng tulungan mo ako, I aspire to be Chief PNP,'" Tulfo said.
Tulfo said Caramat's request reached House Budget Committee chairman and party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co. of Ako Bicol.
