France Castro, vice chair of the House Minority Group and leader of the Activision Teachers' Party, urged consumers to brace themselves for the upcoming steep increase in energy tariffs, which are expected to rise to P7.24 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in some areas.

“It's important that consumers can do this too,” Castro said.
Castro said customers of San Fernando Electric Light & Power Company (SFELAPCO) will experience a P7.24/kWh increase, while MORE Power will implement a P4.08/kWh increase. The Visayan Electric Cooperative will implement a P3.56/kWh increase and Davao Light will increase its power rate by P2.96/kWh.
Manila Electric Company will implement a tariff increase of P2.15/kWh.
