Bad Monkey Season 2 Sneak Peek Update and Season Preview
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bill Lawrence laid out a three-season Bad Monkey arc centered on Vince Vaughn's character, Andrew Yancy. Lawrence and Vaughn discussed their vision with Apple TV+, laying out a three-season character development plan that would include both redemption and recurring setbacks for Yancy. According to Lawrence, "When I pitched it [to Apple], I had a beginning, middle and end of a three-season arc for this character."
Lawrence emphasized that the tone of the show was crucial to its success. He described it as "comedy with a lot of banter, surrounded by surreal satire." They wanted to maintain this tone throughout the seasons. Vaughn echoed this sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm for exploring Yancy's character. He noted, "It was not only a good story, but great characters."
Additionally, Lawrence hinted that the sequel to Carl Hiaasen's Bad Monkey novel, Razor Girl, could be adapted for season two, though this has not yet been confirmed. He shared that Carl Hiaasen "wanted to write a second book so you could see Yancy on a journey to become a man who doesn't get in his own way when it comes to happiness."
