Bayan Muna Chairman Neri Colmenares called on the government to halt all land reclamation projects in Manila Bay due to extreme flooding in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“Bahang-baha pala sa Bagong Pilipinas! It is a matter of ipinagmamalaki ni Pres. Marcos Jr. Has SONA implemented any more flood control projects? The flood control project can be one of the most important impacts on the recovery of water in the water,” Colmenares said.
“The massive flooding we are experiencing in Metro Manila, especially in areas like Malabon, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Marikina, Caloocan and Rizal where floodwaters have reached the second floor, is a direct result of these reckless rehabilitation projects,” he added.
According to Colmenares, land reclamation projects increase the vulnerability of our communities to climate-related disasters.
