The John Wick spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana De Armas, has already faced several production issues leading up to its release. The film has already undergone extensive reshoots, pushing its release date back a year. However, Ballerina's filming issues and subsequent reshoots have also reportedly led to a delay in production of the Highlander film, starring Henry Cavill.
Henry Cavill's Highlander Delayed Due to 'Ballerina' Reshoots
According to a recent report, development on Highlander was delayed by five months due to reshoots of Ballerina.
The update comes from an insider source, first shared by TheWrap. According to the source, reshoots for Ballerina were ordered after director Len Wiseman’s first cut was deemed subpar in quality. As a result, Chad Stahelski, who is best known for directing all four John Wick films, was tapped to reshoot a majority of the finished film.
A majority of the aforementioned reshoots took place in Prague and lasted two to three months, the insider said. This apparently pushed production on Henry Cavill’s Highlander, which Stahelski is also directing, back by five months. “Chad is going to do Highlander, but the cleanup of Ballerina definitely pushed him back five months,” the insider noted.
