Frederik Wiedmann on composing the music for 'Batman: Caped Crusader'
ComingSoon: What inspired you to use the 1940s film music for the Batman: Caped Crusader soundtrack?
Frederik Wiedmann: First of all, that was the main concept that the producers had in mind. The whole show was designed with that in mind, starting with a super Art Deco look for Gotham City and many other elements. By sonically matching the music to the visuals and the time period, I think the visual experience was taken to a whole new level. The main idea was not to rely on an existing Batman movie or TV show, thematically or sonically, but to create a new musical world set in the 40s.
