'Battlestar Galactica' reboot no longer in the works at Peacock – TOYG! News Byte – August 1, 2024
The long-awaited reboot of the popular sci-fi franchise Battlestar Galactica, from Sam Esmail's Esmail Corp., is no longer set to air at Peacock.
The new version of Battlestar Galactica was first announced as being in development at the NBCUniversal streamer in 2019, but was never greenlit. Still, development continued. This past year even saw a writing change, with The Sinner creator Derek Simonds coming on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
That version of Simonds' project will now be offered on other platforms by his studio, Peacock's NBCUniversal sister company UCP.
