Peacock has pulled the plug on a reboot of the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica after five years in development.
Battlestar Galactica reboot no longer in development at Peacock
The reboot project was announced in 2019 as part of Peacock’s initial streaming lineup. It was said to be set within the same continuity as the 2003 Battlestar Galactica series. It was never formally ordered to series at the time.
Variety first reported that sources believe executive producer Sam Esmail and studio UCP will market the project to other channels.
At one point, the series had a writer in the form of Michael Leslie, who joined in 2020 but reportedly left in 2021. In January of this year, it was reported that Derek Simonds had been added as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
