Why Marvel Fired Beau DeMayo From X-Men 97 | WTF Is Going On
Beau DeMayo, the creator and executive producer of the Marvel animated series “X-Men '97,” has accused Marvel and Disney of “serious bias” in a 30-minute video he posted to his OnlyFans profile.
DeMayo was fired by Marvel on the eve of the "X-Men '97" series premiere on Disney+ in March, but the studio declined to comment on the reasons for his firing until August, following DeMayo's accusation that he was stripped of his Season 2 credits for posting fan art of himself shirtless as the X-Men character Cyclops in June for gay pride. Following the accusation, Marvel released a statement saying that DeMayo was fired due to the "outrageous nature" of the findings of an "internal investigation" into DeMayo. A source with knowledge of the investigation further told Variety that the investigation involved sexual misconduct and that DeMayo's credits were stripped because he violated the terms of his severance agreement.
“These allegations of egregious misconduct are false,” DeMayo said Wednesday, saying rumors about the nature of DeMayo's alleged misconduct that have been spread on various sites and podcasts are “lies.”
