'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' aims to raise $100 million in scary-good opening weekend
The top grossing ghost aims to breathe some life into the film's lackluster box office returns.
"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," the sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 film about a pesky poltergeist, is targeting a huge opening weekend of $100 million to $110 million. Based on those estimated box office sales, the sequel would land between 2017's "It" ($123 million debut) and 2019's "It: Chapter 2" ($91 million) as one of the biggest September debuts of all time.
Warner Bros., the distributor of "Beetlejuice 2," is predicting a more conservative $80 million opening. Anything above $80 million would be frighteningly good considering the film's $100 million production budget.
