LOCARNO, Switzerland — The Dominican Republic’s Cronos Films & Production has closed its first pre-sales deal for “Beyond the Mist,” (“Después de la Niebla”), a flagship example of the company’s drive for what it describes as a “sensory cinema” that “does not shy away from the social and political struggles of the Dominican Republic.”
In an initial distribution deal for the title, which was launched this weekend at the Match Me! network forum in Locarno, The Hague-based sales and distribution company Latin Quarter has acquired all rights for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Latin Quarter, a growing force in the Latin American, Spanish and Latin American diaspora auteur pic scene, has a direct distribution operation in the Netherlands, as well as in the U.K., Germany and Spain. It is exploring a “larger partnership” for the film, director Juan G. Castro told Variety.
